Meet Amelia Rose Watkinson

Meet Amelia Rose Watkinson

Welcome to the Family

We are pleased to welcome Australian triathlete, Amelia Rose Watkinson to our athlete roster! Amelia hails from gorgeous Coolum Beach, Queensland better known from the triathlon community as the home of the IM 70.3 Sunshine Coast.
When we first spoke to Amelia several months ago, we immediately knew that she was a perfect fit and we're beyond stoked that she'll be representing us in the professional circuit.
Amelia will also be instrumental in helping us develop & test new wheels for you all to craft the perfect Kona bike course crushing wheelset.

Where it all began

Amelia grew up in Auckland, New Zealand with her mom and two younger siblings. Where even at a young age she had a natural affinity for the outdoors. Being immersed in team sports as a kid and naturally competitive Amelia prided herself in always having top marks and the best abs.

It wasn't until her teenage years when she began to move into longer distance running and later bought her first road bike at age 16. Since, she has been competing in the endurance world. With her cycling & running background she earned several U19 national titles in the individual TT, road race, hill climb, and team TT which set her up nicely for a career as a professional triathlete. Even though swimming wasn't on her radar until later in life Amelia has proved to be a quick learner and hasn't let that slow her down.

Off to a great start...

As we all know, 2020 has been anything far from a normal year. However, due to the great work that the Australian government had done, racing has picked up slowly again. It was extremely exciting when Amelia had informed us that Ironman 70.3 Sunshine Coast & Ironman Cairns was set to take place in September, we were beyond excited to get the opportunity to share the news of our partnership with the world.

Amelia had been keeping me updated on her training and fitness during the last few months and even when a lot of us started to lose the motivation to train, Amelia was still going strong and that indeed has paid off.

When Amelia crossed the finish line at Ironman 70.3 Sunshine Coast she was at the top of the podium with 3 minutes to spare on second place. Having held the lead the entire race she managed to hold off and gain time on the race favorites. We're excited to see what Amelia can do at Ironman Cairns this coming weekend but she'll have the help of a prototype rear disc wheelset to help give her the leg up on the competition. Stay tuned and follow Amelia Rose Watkinson on her and our social channels to keep updated on how she does this weekend!
