This week's Readers Ride is our first ever MTB feature! With this, we thought it would be great to show you a bike which belongs to Hunt. That’s right – it’s our communal MTB used by all of us here when in need.
So far, this bike has been used by Dan for MTB commutes, Julie for weekend rides, Ollie for sliding around the local woods and Hamish for mucking around at Sea Otter. There is nothing worse than having a group going out for a ride and someone can’t go because they don’t have a bike!
Pace are based out of Hunt's co-founder, Tom Marchment's, wife’s home village in Yorkshire (there's a mouthful). Needless to say, we have a long history of riding Pace frames. This time round, Pace was kind enough to allow us to have a custom black and white frame.
For the build, we went all-out in building the ideal aggressive hardtail. This means that it can’t be overly high-end (because it will be used in the winter), nor does it have to have anything ‘extreme’ – instead it needs to have a solid build spec and something for us to be all comfortable on.
Asides from the mostly SRAM build, special inclusions are the Pace 31.8mm long stem (super stubby!), 125mm dropper (as often in XC it is not the best to have heaps of drop when riding undulating terrain) Nobby Nic 2.35” Front and 2.25” Rear tyres and the XCWide 29er wheelset which will handle all of the abuse and neglect that will be thrown at this bike.
