The Purpose
The Canyon dhb p/b Bloor Homes (UCI Continental) pro team are racing and training on our tubeless-ready clincher wheelsets. However, for the biggest races tubular rims were needed - they provide the ability for the riders to keep rolling whilst waiting for their service car in the event of a puncture so we specified tubular rims for the 5580CWT. We all want to go fast; that was the brief. Going deep is obvious for aero gains, wide rims with a U-profile provide great handling and reduce drag across multiple wind yaw-angles. Durability is also essential for the rough and tumble of pro racing and the 5580CWT rims deliver with strong Toray unidirectional carbon fiber for the sidewall construction and 3K weave for strength in multiple directions at the rim bed and spoke holes.
The differentiated front 55 and rear 80 provide a great balance for high velocity riding with predictable handling. The super-deep rear wheel provides extra aero gains for TTs and incredible stiffness/acceleration for putting the power down when sprinting.
The freehub body on the HUNT Sprint hub features 48 teeth on the ratchet ring, and treble-tooth pawls, providing incredible 7.5 degree engagement. Perfect for when the hammer goes down and you need an instant response. The strong individual leaf spring pawls are louder than circular spring set-ups but we think that is the right decision to make for this type of wheelset. Also, stiffness = Speed, especially when sprinting for the win, and the Sprint hubs have large 15mm diameter hub axles for sprinting and out-of-saddle climbing. Read Less

Please note: We are not able to control other brands brake pad compounds and we cannot test every possible brake pad so please use only our HUNT Brakco Griptec carbon specific rim brake pads with these wheels. All HUNT wheels models have to pass our harsh cobbled-rolling-road tests for rider weight limits, please see here for more details. 109kgs is the upper recommended rider weight limit for these wheels. Please include the weight of any luggage in your total rider weight when choosing the correct wheels. If a rider is over 90Kgs then an experienced bike mechanic should check the wheel regularly and it is advisable to use minimum 25mm tires at max 100psi as this will reduce the fatigue on the wheelset. We are cyclists ourselves and do of course go above and beyond to offer excellent service if you ever do experience any issues. We carry full spares at very reasonable prices and offer complete support.
